Hello There, Welcome to Slim Down 2009.
How did I get into a challenge against a radio babe?
Driving into work one morning, I heard Stephanie on the radio talking about the gym & her desire to lose weight. I decided to challenge her to a Slim Down, an eight week challenge to see who can lose to most weight, inches & body fat. Stephanie accepted the minute she heard about it. We are both very competitive and hate to lose (except weight)! She wears her ARMY t-shirt which concerns me. I wear my Barbie T shirt. Can you see the challenge ahead of me already? Let the Games Begin!
I have been in the advertising business since I can remember, I currently work for the Cape Cod Times as an Advertising Manager; my love affair with newspapers started during my own paper route when I was 12. At the time we were called the Cape Cod Standard Times, I delivered the paper afternoons after school.
As for my personal life, it is busy, stressful, eventful and full of surprises to say the least. If something is going to go awry or happen to someone it is usually me and a story always follows that entertains my friends endlessly.
I have struggled with my weight, up and down like a yo-yo; I have a line up of sizes in my closet! I recently gave away 2 sizes, all of it, to ensure there is no going back this time.
For me, what has worked to lose weight is eating limited amounts of food. However I have learned by doing so (Thanks Bunni) it taps into lean muscle mass. Muscle burns fat, eating smaller throughout the day is the key. Keeping muscle is good. Weighs more but looks better!
I have a terrific work-out partner. He pushes me to my limits; he has been patient and dedicated to my success which is why I think (I know) I’ll be the winner!
He asked me to give him 5 goals at the start of this contest. I had 7.
- Learn to eat Healthy
- Lose 20 pounds
- Fit back into my favorite size 8 jeans
- Develop definition in my arms (Madonna like)
- Run the Falmouth Road Race (he promised to run with me)
- Feel Comfortable in my own skin. (Human beings tend to be their own worst critics. I know I am).
- Re-Pierce my belly button when my abs are defined. (Took it out in September. I developed too many rolls to keep it in; no belly ring looks right with belly blubber!)
I invite you to follow me on this journey. I guarantee you laughs; not only with me but at me, it will be fun to see Stephanie & I pick-on each other and attempt to sabotage each others success.
We invite you to join us for the final weigh in at Trader Ed’s sometime in June.
